About Us

The story of the Holistic Counselling & Coaching Institute began with the humble but powerful vision of Apostle James Kofi Abbrey, who founded Holistic Care Consult as a sole proprietorship.

The official launch took place on Sunday, March 20, 2016, in Dansoman, Accra.
With a mission to promote professional counselling beyond traditional experience-based approaches, Holistic Care Consult quickly grew in influence through word of mouth, social media, and radio and TV programs. Churches across Ghana—especially in Ashaiman, Tema, Cape Coast, Kumasi, Sunyani, and Tamale—opened their doors, enabling the Principal Counsellor to train counselling teams and speak on matters of marriage, family, and emotional health.

In November 2017, a major transition occurred. The Consult was rebranded as Holistic Counselling and Training Consult Ltd., becoming a fully registered limited liability company. This expansion reflected a broader focus: not just counselling, but also professional training and holistic care.
Seasoned leaders such as Rev. John K. Darku and Mrs. Victoria Noble Abbrey joined as co-directors. Accreditation with the Ghana Psychology Council followed, granting the authority to offer professional training programs, including:

  • Lay Practitioner Certificate Courses
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Supervised Internship Placements

Each year, the Institute welcomes students from across Ghana and internationally—including from institutions like Liberty University (USA)—for internship and practical training.
